Bigoots wins big in Sunday Million with nearly $250K in holiday cash

Sunday Million logo.jpgAt the height of this holiday season, people around the world are preparing for family get-togethers, packing for travel, and shopping for gifts. Some are even working on their New Year's resolutions, as less than two weeks remain in 2010.

Poker players are among those wrapping up the year, and all of them who entered the Sunday Million on December 19 hoped to end it on the highest of notes - a win in one of the most prestigious tournaments in online poker and potentially life-changing money. To enter 2011 with a fresh six-figure payday is surely a positive start to the poker year.

The tournament began with a solid field of 8,486 players, all of whom were prepared to take a shot at the $1.5 million guarantee, but when the $215 buy-ins were tallied, the prize pool was set at $1,697,200. After several frantic hours of action, the money bubble broke, and the last 1,260 players found themselves guaranteed a minimum of $305.49 in their accounts.

Some of those who added some holiday cheer to their poker accounts included Team PokerStars Online members George "Jorg95" Lind, who finished in 1242nd place, as well as Dusty "Leatherass9" Schmidt in 690th and Jorge Arias in 550th place. Team PokerStars Pro represented well, too, with the following finishes: Martin "AABenjaminAA" Hruby in 799th place, Nuno Coelho in 722nd, Liv Boeree in 648th, Theo "Theo J" Jorgensen in 538th, George Dancer in 468th, Christian "el grillo" de Leon in 321st, Ruben "rubenrtv" Visser in 178th, and Celina Lin in 147th place.

Celina Lin.jpg

The remainder of the field thinned as the tournament played on, and it was just into the tenth hour of play that hand-for-hand action finally produced an elimination that sent a player home before the final table. Padjes had become the short-stacked player of the final ten, and the all-in move finally came amidst a raising war with nineallday00 in a battle of the blinds. Padjes had J?9? in the small blind, but nineallday00 showed A?Q? in the big blind. The board came 2?Q?8?A?5?, and the two pair eliminated padjes in tenth place with $8,995.16.

Nineallday00 leads all nine players

It was a tough table in the making, but it was finally set in Level 36, with blinds at 200,000/400,000 and a 40,000 ante. The starting chip counts were as follows:

Seat 1: STREWO (10,076,487 in chips)
Seat 2: ardad333 (6,394,781 in chips)
Seat 3: JerryCZech (3,543,166 in chips)
Seat 4: nineallday00 (17,803,225 in chips)
Seat 5: vsempzd (13,611,846 in chips)
Seat 6: viking47 (6,346,152 in chips)
Seat 7: matate (9,834,244 in chips)
Seat 8: spencerman3 (4,183,766 in chips)
Seat 9: bigoots (13,066,333 in chips)

2010 Million final table 12.19.10.JPG

Play started with some caution on the part of most players, and the pots remained fairly small, though nineallday00 didn't hesitate to use the chip lead to take a few pots.

JerryCZech soon got involved with ardad333 and vsempzd to see a flop of T?3?J?. JerryCZech made the first bet, and vsempzd check-raised while ardad333 check-folded. JerryCZech responded with an all-in call for his last 1,083,166 chips holding Q?K? for the straight draw, but vsempzd showed K?T? for the pair of tens. The 7? on the turn changed nothing, and the J? on the river only made two pair for vsempzd. That eliminated JerryCZech in ninth place with $13,153.30.

The next half hour saw ardad333 double through nineallday00, while spencerman3 doubled through vsempzd and then again through STREWO.

Matate then attempted the same feat, though the hand started innocently enough with matate and bigoots going to see a flop of Q?K?A?. Bigoots bet 600,000, and matate called for the remainder of his stack with 5?5?. Bigoots showed Q?6? for the pair of queens, though, and the A? turn and J? river card allowed bigoots to scoop the pot. Matate left the table with $18,669.20 for the eighth place finish.

A few hands later, it was ardad333 all-in holding A?K? and bigoots there to compete with J?J?. The flop of K?5?J? gave bigoots the set of jacks, and the 5? on the turn made that hand into a full house. The 9? on the turn did nothing to change that, and ardad333 had to leave in seventh place, which was good for a $33,944.00 payday.

Bigoots challenges nineallday00 for top spot

It seemed that a new player had jumped into the top position on the leaderboard, and there was no stopping bigoots. Already above the 23 million-chip mark, when viking47 wanted to tangle, bigoots was ready to go along for the ride. After the T?5?2? appeared, bigoots led out with a bet, and viking47 check-raised all-in for nearly 4.2 million chips. Bigoots called with K?T?, and viking47 turned over A?2? for bottom pair and the lead. The 5? on the turn didn't change anything, but the K? on the river gave bigoots the better two pair, eliminating vikind47 in sixth place with $50,916.00.

But nineallday00 missed the chip lead. This double-up through bigoots changed that and put nineallday00 back on top:

Three hands later, nineallday00 was looking to gather more chips, and when vsempzd made the initial raise, nineallday00 pushed all-in. Vsempzd called for his tournament life with A?Q?, and nineallday00 showed a dominated A?5?. But the board came 6?3?4?7?9?, giving nineallday00 the seven-high straight. Vsempzd was forced to leave in fifth place with $67,888.00.

A few double-ups - STREWO through nineallday00 and spencerman3 through STREWO - allowed the shorter stacks to play awhile longer.

But spencerman3 was ready to try again. When nineallday00 opened, spencerman3 called all-in for his last 4,430,128 chips with A?T?, and nineallday00 showed only 4?2?. But the board of 5?2?Q?K?9? gave nineallday00 the pair of deuces, and that was all it took. Spencerman3, winner of two past WCOOP events, wasn't able to add a Sunday Million title to his resume. He settled for $84,860.00 for the fourth place finish.

STREWO was next to be at risk, putting a little over 9 million chips all-in with A?Q? against the A?T? of bigoots. But the flop of T?5?4? hit bigoots with the pair of tens, and the 7? turn and A? that finished the board only gave bigoots another pair. STREWO was forced out in third place with $127,290.00.

Battle of the big stacks

The two players who fought for the chip lead throughout the duration of the hour-long final table thus far were prepared to fight for the win. They quickly decided not to attempt chip-chop talks, and they got underway with the following chip counts:

Seat 4: nineallday00 (50,252,089 in chips)
Seat 9: bigoots (34,607,911 in chips)

Nineallday00 came out of the gate with strength, but bigoots pushed back. And when the time was right, this hand produced a life-saving double-up and put bigoots in the chip lead:

RSS readers click through to see replayIt didn't take long for nineallday00 to be relegated to a three-to-one chip deficit and forced to move. The time came when nineallday00 held A?7?, but the all-in move was met by a call and A?9? from bigoots. The board came A?6?2?T?4?, and bigoots held the better kicker to go with the aces. Nineallday00 accepted second place and the $182,449.00 that went with it.

Bigoots became the latest Sunday Million champion, which was worth a nifty title and $249,662.80 in prize money. Congratulations!

The PCA on five Frequent Player Points

PCA-2010-thumbnail.jpgLet's be honest. Going to the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure is not an experience for budget travelers. It requires a flight to the Bahamas, a room at the high-dollar Atlantis resort, and the buy-in for the event. It all adds up after a while. That's why so many people (688 at this writing) are working to qualify on PokerStars.

Before you run off and hit a satellite however, you should know that no matter what you do, you're unlikely to top the return on investment story of the PokerStars player known as tombala85.

I was perusing the PCA Facebook page today and saw that Mad Harper had posted something pretty fun at the top of the page. She wrote:

Two hundred PokerStars Frequent Player Points will get you a PokerStars window sticker, 300 FPPs will get you a T-shirt and 600 FPPs will get you a floatable PokerStars keychain. But back in August, "tombala85" spent just 5 FPPs entering a Round 1 PCA Mega Path satellite. Back in August, the PCA probably looked a long way away and thousands were entering the various PCA Mega Path satellites on offer. But tombala85 not only got through his Round 1 tourney, he then sailed through a further EIGHT rounds to win his trip to the Bahamas - a prize package worth more than $15,500.

You might want to read that again just to get your head around it. See, tombala was one of thousands of people who played in the Mega Path satellites (a multi-leveled qualifying system of satellite tournaments that start at five FPPs). There were several people who earned their PCA package for just a few FPPs, but no one except tombala85 who qualified for the PCA for the lowest possible amount: 5 FPPs. I don't know the current FPP exchange rate, but it's safe to say tombala85 has qualified for the PCA for less than 10¢.

All of the 30 Mega Path qualifiers will be looking to match or better Darren 'Woodylord' Keyes achievement from 2010. Keyes made it to the PCA after starting in a 75-FPP Round 1 satellite. He worked his way to the top and finished in tenth place for $150,000. His ROI was in the 12 million percent range.

darren_keyes_pca_2010_75FPPs.jpg Darren Keyes

With now less than two weeks until the PCA, your time to qualify is running out. Head on over to the EVENTS / PCA section of the PokerStars lobby and start hitting the satellites soon. There still qualifiers running for as little as $1 or 100 Frequent Player Points.

The Frequent Player Points you spend today could be memories of winning millions by the end of next month.

Turbo Takedown: gmd68 enjoys holiday present winning Audi TT after four-way chop

turbo_takedown_thumb.jpgBesides the people in the Lexus commercials with the brand new luxury car wrapped up in a bright red bow out front of their house, there are not many who get a brand new car as a gift for the holidays. There are ways however to make this happen and does not require knocking over a bank, enter the final $1 million Turbo Takedown for 2010 where it cost no monetary funds, just 3,000 Frequent Players Points to set yourself up against 17,012 other players looking to celebrate Boxing Day with a flourish and an Audi TT (ribbon not included). One million dollars would be divided up between 5,000 players and $60,000.00 to tonight's champ.

Despite the $100.00 bulls-eyes on the backs of our Team PokerStars players, a few of them managed to make a little cash themselves this evening after the ironically named luckky6 busted in 5,001st place. Among the team members winning cash, Matthias De Meulder (1951st place, $110.00), JP Kelly (1656th place, $115.00), Veronica "Princesa" Dabul (646th place, $200.00), Joao Nunes (600th place, $200.00). Team Online pro Anders Hoyer "Donald" Berg got the closest to placing that Audi TT in his garage but finished a ways off the final table in 408th place ($260.00).

Anders Berg - Event 55.jpgAnders "Donald" Berg - 408th place

Fast forwarding to the final ten players, the final table bubble would last nearly an entire blind level as short stacks doubled up and no one wanted to give away the shot at that car and it would take a double elimination to get there. Another blind level nearly went by as the shortstacks stayed alive until two of them went all-in on the same hand. First, chahlala sing his last notes after shoving from UTG with just 702,976 and blinds at 125K/250K ante 25K but holding a decent pocket pair of eights 8?8?. luckycrazy29 on the immediate left made the call holding 9?A?. The coin flip would be decided on the flop as an ace would peel off and hold thru the J? T? A? T? Q? board sending chahlala out in tenth place ($8,000.00). But on the adjacent table, leandroltb would shove 1.23 million chip from the button holding A?6? as chilenocl in the small blind covered easily and made the call holding K?J?. chilenocl caught fire on the flop by nailing a flush 2? T? 6? as leandroltb was drawing dead by the Q? turn. Offically leandroltb made the final table, just won't show up on the pretty screen shot below, finishing in ninth place ($10,000.00).

Seat 2: NasseNøffff (11390175 in chips)
Seat 3: chilenocl (7379830 in chips)
Seat 4: gmd68 (5042620 in chips)
Seat 5: rowang (3032164 in chips)
Seat 6: luckycrazy29 (10393057 in chips)
Seat 7: xoriguer458 (2639313 in chips)
Seat 8: NvrMnd (3923721 in chips)
Seat 9: sporic13 (7235120 in chips)

Nevermind I've gotten better things to do

In the final table's fifth hand with the blinds still at 125K/250K ante 25K NvrMnd tried to take down the blinds quickly by shoving from the small blind for 3.5 million. However, sporic13 covered and snap called after finding big slick A?K?. A dominated A?J? for NvrMnd was rooting for a queen after the 2? T? K? flop. But, the T? turn and 4? river left NvrMnd looking for other activities on a Sunday night after taking eighth ($12,500.00).

X needs an A to pass

It's not your day when you find big slick and it's behind before the flop even comes out. Check out xoriguer458 journey with big slick below:

Moving up to 175K/350K ante 35K blinds xoriguer458 would raise to 1.05 million from UTG +1 folding to chilenocl on button who side stepped any fancy three-betting numbers and shoved for 6.8 million covering xoriguer458's stack. The blinds folded quickly as xoriguer458 made the call holding a suited big slick K?A?. Usually a powerful hand when it's not facing off against aces or kings. In this case chilenocl held the kings K?K? and with a distinct lack of aces on the Q? Q? 4? T? 9? board xoriguer458 was crossed off the final table in seventh place ($15,000.00).

rowang rowang rowang Rawhide!

As the blinds moved again to 200K/400K ante 40K the players started noticing the jump and decided to become less selective with cut out a certain amount chips and just shoved preflop. gmd however bucked the trends and made a 1.2 million chip raise from the hijack and rowang called all-in from the cutoff for 1.11 million as the blinds folded. Both held an ace but gmd68's 8?A? had the better kicker than rowang's 3?A?. A pair of nines on the flop offered a ray of hope for a chop, but the 9? 2? 9? 5? 7? board did not comply and rowang was put out to pasture in sixth place ($17,500.00).

The "turbo" part of the Turbo Takedown kicks in

The very next hand NasseNøffff was looking to take down the blind and antes by open shoving from the small blind for 1.6 million. chilenocl had plenty to spare with over 11 million chips and made the call holding 6?Q?. NasseNøffff turned over two live cards 7?8? with hoping of attaching them to the board. Nasse which is slang for a gas mask could not cover the odor of his cards after the A? 4? T? 2? 6? board spilled out and NasseNøffff took leave in fifth place ($20,000.00).

Break out the Excel spreadsheet and formulas for this deal

Chip chopping did not end well so our final four went back to using ICM figures and a little on the side to play for making the deal below:

gmd68 $37,868.42
luckycrazy29 $36,845.31
chilenocl $36,619.31
sporic $33,667.05

These figures left $5,000.00 for first (plus the Audi TT of course), $3,000.00 for second, $2,000.00 for third, and some late night programming with no added money for fourth.

Crazy part down pat, lucky part, not so much

With the blinds continuing to climb up to blind ceiling of 250K/500K ante 50K, luckycrazy29 fell to just 3.6 million in chips and tried to shove those in from the cutoff to grab the blinds and antes. But, sporic13 made the call with pocket fives 5?5? as luckycrazy29 was pleased to see it was a coin flip holding 9?6?. A spade-less 2? J? T? 2? 8? board rolled out ending luckycrazy29's night with the figures from the chop in the fourth place ($36,845.22).

sporic sporked

Immediately after doubling up gmd68, sporic13 still had a little more than seven million in chips and raised from the small blind to 1.5 million. Over to the chip leader chilenocl he would shove all-in forcing sporic13 to call for his tournament life. The decision was easier than it sounded as sporic13 rolled over... watch the video below to find out:

RSS readers please click thru to view video

Big slick A?K? for sporic13 who needed chips after doubling up gmd68, and a dominated 8?A? for chilenocl. Both would catch an useless ace on the flop, but found the eight on the turn much more interesting A? 6? 9? 8?. Finishing with the T? on the river sporic13 received the extra $2,000.00 from the four-way chop for the third place finish ($35,667.05).

Proud Audi TT owner soon-to-be named

We thought it would be chilenocl after the cards were flipped up after the flop:

RSS readers please click thru to view video

But the poker gods say nay. With a flop of Q? 6? 8? chilenocl pushed out a 3.5 million chip bet and got gmd68 to shove all-in for 18.9 million. Snap call with aces A?A? for chilenocl and gmd68 was needing help with Q?J?. 7? on the turn and gmd68 lost another out but the Q? on the river extended the match as gmd68 took in the 42.9 million chip pot leaving chilenocl with just 8.1 million chips.

No escape this time

21 minutes after beginning heads-up play and a little more than ten hours after being given their 3,000 starting chips we would have a champion. gmd68 would slyly min raise from the button as chilenocl tried to pounce on the weakness by shoving all-in for 14.5 million chips holding Q?A?. It was a set-up for a big cooler however as gmd68 snap called with aces A?A?. Unlike when chilenocl was one card away from the Audi TT with aces, this time there was no such sweat down the 5? 2? 9? 8? 3? board as gmd68 drove away in the Audi TT with the last 2010 Turbo Takedown victory and $42,868.42!

Roberto Romanello runs over EPT Prague for €640,000

ept-thumb-promo.jpg

If anyone thought poker was a game lacking emotion, except perhaps that of over-achieving tub-thumpers; or if they believed it to be a game based purely on money, on ego and of one-upmanship against their fellow man, they need only look as far as the European Poker Tour's newest champion Roberto Romanello, for proof of otherwise.

Tonight, Romanello endeared himself to a poker community eager to see one of its natural talents succeed. After the last hand against runner-up Emiliano Bono, of Italy, Romanello simply couldn't help it. He covered his face with his hands trying to hide a stream of tears. His attempt to manfully cough it off failed as he looked for a steadying embrace from Thomas Kremser. Even those watching from the stage began to choke up.

wrap_roberto_romanello_winner_ft_sb.jpg
Roberto Romanello

So, six days and 562 eliminations after it began, the defining image of EPT Prague will not be one of cards, nor towers of chips or the arms-aloft celebration of some lucky outdraw. It will be of a 34-year-old man, alone in the corner of a room, sobbing helplessly into his arms, completely overcome by emotion, to the utter delight of a contented crowd.

wrap_roberto_romanello_tears_ft_sb.jpg
Roberto Romanello

"This means everything to me," Romanello would say when he'd had a few deep breaths and a sip of beer. "I felt I had so much support here, and I would like to thank everyone who has given it."

wrap_romanello_kremser_ft_sb.jpg
Tournament Director Thomas Kremser embraces Roberto Romanello

It marks the end of a breakthrough year for Romanello who just ten months ago knew exactly how it felt to fall as this final stage. A few hours after his sixth-placed finish in Copenhagen, he was picking at a consolatory dinner in the hotel restaurant, his face speaking more than any words. "It felt like it was my tournament," he'd said, wondering if he would ever get as close again. Well today he found his answer, one worth €640,000.

wrap_roberto_romanello_bono_ft_sb.jpg
Romanello with Emiliano Bono

To see Romanello in action today was to see skilful poker at its best and in its purest form. Serious, and playing with unbroken concentration, Romanello angled his stack for attack, he never weakened, he never lost his resolve and he's an EPT champion because of it.

For his part Bono showed all the good grace that defeat demands. Today he had been a bundle of contradiction. Quiet while the others put in the legwork, Bono would explode in jack-in-the-box fashion and chest-thump his way through several vital double-ups. With a curious black cloth draped over his head, Bono led a charmed existence which seemed pre-ordained to end with over-achievement. That meant second place for the amiable Italian, who leaves Prague happy with €435,000.

wrap_emiliano_bono_ft_sb.jpg
Runner-up Emiliano Bono

The final got off to a lively start. Within minutes Roberto Nulli, one of three remaining Italians, was bidding his opponents farewell, to be followed minutes later by Frenchman Manuel Bevand. Any notion of a quick staccato final seemed assured when Slovakian Jan Bendik followed in sixth place. But then the frost settled. Four hours and nine minutes would pass before Marco Leonzio was dispatched in fifth.

wrap_trophy_ft_sb.jpg
The EPT trophy

Leonzio had been Italy's brightest hope, reaching the final day as chip leader and was on course to emulate his countryman Salvatore Bonavena's win in Prague two seasons ago. But while his rise to the top had been swift yesterday, that same impetus vanished today, and he proved unable to counter the precision of Romanello and the quiet focus of Team PokerStars Pro Marcin Horecki. Ultimately it was Romanello who sent him on his way.

wrap_marco_leonzio_ft_sb.jpg
Marco Leonzio

Peter Skripka would go next, a player with obvious talent and the right degree of ambivalence to be a perpetual thorn in others's sides. Horecki had been victim of Skripka's nonchalant panache but got the last word, out kicking him into fourth place.

wrap_peter_skripka_ft_sb.jpg
PokerStars player Peter Skripka

Horecki's hopes of a first EPT title would also be lost some two hours later. Three-handed, the man from Poland suffered in two key hands, against both Romanello and then Bono, before Bono, in an Ace-Jack vs Ace-King encounter, delivered the coup de grace. The Italian edged a jack on the river, leaving Horecki with a result equal to his third place in London back in 2008.

An hour and 15 minutes later, after an exhausting final table, Romanello had what he'd come for, an EPT title. We'd be happy to see him get a second.

The drama is in the detail, all of which can be studied at length at the links below.

That concludes our live coverage from Prague, made memorable for snow, dancing Santas, and a Welshman in a fuzzy hat, sobbing gently and clutching his EPT trophy.
Our thanks go to our foreign bloggers, working in German, Dutch and Italian. Thanks also to our photographer Neil Stoddart, who provided all the images this week.

We're now going to take advantage of the early finish and the free bar proffered by Mr Romanello by way of celebration. Maybe after that we'll check-up the travel news from home, peer through the window at the snow in Prague, and gulp.

Provided we get through the ice blockade we'll be back on 6 January 2011 with live coverage of the first events at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure on Paradise Island. As ever it promises everything that poker players would want, with all the conch chowder and pink drinks you could wish for.

Until then it's good night, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Prague. Here's a video to sign off with for the night...

Sunday Warm-up: profiles in winning, proFile takes Sunday Warm-up title Mizzi finishes third

sunday-warmup-thumb.jpgA festive weekend with Christmas Day followed by Boxing Day being celebrated today meant for a smaller crowd in today's $750,000 guarantee Sunday Warm-up. Not really. 4,366 players follow their way thru Nutter Butter snowman cookies and return lines at the retail stores for returning those Rudolph light-up socks from Aunt Marge to play in today Sunday Major. A prize pool of $873,200.00 was up for grabs with $136,989.36 going to the lucky player who can outlast them all.

Team PokerStars may have drank a little too much egg nog last night as they were all shut out from the cashier's window. Chris Moneymaker (734th place), Toni Judet (789th place), Dusty "Leatherass9" Schmidt (1212th place), and Matthias De Meulder (1314th place) all got in striking distance of cashing tonight. But, not as close as Andre Akkari. While checking in near the bubble it appeared the Brazilian pro was going to ease across the 630 player mark after which everyone was assured $314.35 but in a blink Akkari would be knocked out painfully close to the bubble finishing out of the money in 636th place.

Andre Akkari - near bubble boy 636th place

After taking down the Sunday Warm-up last week, Dsavo was making a run at back-to-back titles but settled for two consecutive cashes instead (365th place, $392.94). And a recognizable name kept climbing up the leaderboard. Sorel "zangbezan24" Mizzi (who won this tournament in October) continued to collect chips, enough in fact to make our final nine this evening. Down to ten players with five a side at two tables, on Mizzi's table tony1967 would open shove from the button for 1.01 million chips. With the blinds at 80K/160K ante 16K, inwooke in the big blind covered and made the call holding A?2?. A couple of diamonds for tony1967 J?K? as both players hit the A? 5? J? flop. inwooke led with the aces and top pair would prove to be enough after the 7? turn and 2? river laid out to start up our final table.

No time to exchange pleasantries

While nearly half the table was still unracking their chips, MuppetKing was trying to take down the first pot with a raise to 344,250 chips from the cutoff. scarface2911 on the immediate left said "say hello to my little friend" and shoved for 2.9 million. "It better be a big friend" MuppetKing may have stated after covering and calling with pocket jacks J?J?. Suddenly scarface2911's pocket ducks were drowning and never threatened the jacks on the 9? 6? 9? 9? 7? board to finish the Sunday Warm-up final table after the first hand in ninth place ($6,985.60). Certainly not scarface2911's first time at a major final table as seen in his April's Super Tuesday run to third place that netted nearly $40K.

Mizzi ponders and collects chips

Looking for a second Sunday Warm-up title Sorel "zangbezan24" Mizzi would raise it up to 420.828 chips from the cutoff with the blinds at 100K/200K ante 20K and found a frustrated Sirocko on the button who instead of three-betting just shoved all in for 5.2 million. Back to Mizzi he would knock about 15 seconds off his timer before calling with pocket nines 9?9?. The call was a good one as Sirocko flipped up presto 5?5? and did not improve on the K? 6? T? Q? 6? board to finish in eighth place ($10,915.00). This five figure score added to the Sunday Million fourth place finish just two weeks ago for $82K made this holiday season a very profitable one for Sirocko.

Mizzi on target tonight

Sometimes it's just a person's night to win. Watch KarabasW take his stack up against the chip leading Sorel and painfully watch those chips add to Mizzi's stack.

KarabasW's pocket queens Q?Q? were a heavy favorite to win the 8.5 million chip pot but Mizzi's pocket tens would find one sitting on the end of the flop and took the set of tens to the house for the win 8? 6? T? 3? 7?. Mizzi's stack would grow to over 18 million chips while KarabasW settled for a $19,647.00 bad beat story in seventh place.

If you find pocket queens just fold them tonight

The very next hand more big action preflop as proFile made a raise to 425,666 with the blinds holding at 100K/200K ante 20K. inhidonks sitting on the immediate left three-bet to 1.04 million as it folded around the table to proFile who made it an even two million. Back to inhidonks, fed up with the raising, five bets all in for 4.8 million holding pocket queens Q?Q?. The cursed ladies would not be ahead this time preflop as proFile covered and snap called with aces A?A?. Unlike the previous hand there would be no suck out as the 3? 2? 7? J? 2? board did not help the unlucky ladies and inhidonks was gone in sixth place ($28,379.00). Wow, everyone tonight seems to have big prior scores, inhidonks was no different snagging a final table at this year's WCOOP Event #1 and taking fifth place for over $40K.

Woo'd from the tournament

Just nine hands later but after the blinds moved up to 125K/250K ante 25K, proFile was trying to build from eliminating inhidonks by raising to 555,555 chips from the button. inwooke decided to defend the small blind by shoving for 2.6 million. Easily covering, proFile made the call holding pocket sevens 7?7?. A race for inwooke who turned up Q?K? but despite catching a few more outs to a straight on the flop, the 4? A? J? 6? 8? could not come up with anymore broadway cards and inwooke was out the door in fifth place ($37,111.00).

Rubik's Cube solved

Watch the biggest pot of the tournament go down as proFile and THE CUBE decide to heat things up preflop for a 22.1 million chip pot:

proFile came up with aces A?A? at the right time once again. This time after THE CUBE tried a little squeeze play with Q?A? and got caught by a bigger hand. After fours and jacks rained down on the 4? J? 4? J? 4? board 22.1 million chips slid over to proFile knocking the THE CUBE from the tournament in fourth place ($49,335.80).

No repeat for Mizzi

Mizzi would lose some steam after doubling up MuppetKing in an 11.6 million chip pot and continued to bleed chips going into the 150K/300K ante 30K blind level where he would make his last stand. After MuppetKing made a raise to 645,250 from the small blind, zangbezan24 would shove for 3.7 million. Holding a pair of treys 3?3? MuppetKing made the call. Mizzi flipped up a medium ace A?9? but found nothing to match it with on the 4? J? K? 4? 2? board as Sorel Mizzi would not notch a second Sunday Warm-up title this year and exited the final table in third place ($72,039.00).

Gonzo versus proFile

Or is Kermit the king? Regardless, MuppetKing would enter heads-up play versus proFile at a slight disadvantage (24.8 million to 18.8 million) but both had lots of play with the blinds at 150K/300K ante 30K. After a few quick hands as the two stacks became more equal the players pulled Team PokerStars online Jorge Arias aside to split up the remaining prize pool.

MuppetKing $114,358.59
proFile $114,358.59

Deal set, $10,000.00 set aside for tonight's champ, game on.

MuppetKing takes early lead

Moving into the 200K/400K ante 40K blind level, MuppetKing who was last seen at a Major final table here at PokerStars during the 2009 SCOOP Event #4 NLHE tourney taking sixth for $8.3K shot out to a sizable 37.9 million to 5.7 million chip lead before proFile managed to double thru with A?J? versus A?7? on a suck, and river re-suck roller coaster 8? 4? 8? 7? A? board to get back to 11.4 million.

proFile'd for winning

After the blinds moved up to 250K/500K ante 50K proFile and MuppetKing decided to duke it out preflop. Watch the results below:

T?9? for proFile who who tried to shove MuppetKing off his min raise from the button, but MuppetKing decided to make the call with A?7?. The J? K? 8? flop was clean for both players but added straight outs for proFile. 3? on the turn left MuppetKing one card from victory again, but the Q? on the river gave proFile the straight and the chip lead with the 24.8 million chip pot.

Third time's a charm

Seven hands later the two would get their chips in the middle preflop again, but this time MuppetKing's tournament life was on the line holding pocket eights 8?8? and dominating the 8?A? of proFile. 9? 4? 5? on the flop looked like MuppetKing was ready to take back the chip lead with interest. J? on the turn and 35.9 million chip pot balanced towards the Jim Henson fan but once again the river failed MuppetKing as the A? fell and proFile took home the additional $10,000.00 and the last 2010 Sunday Warm-up title!
